James L. Daverio, 74, of Vermilion, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic following a lengthy illness. James was born April 14, 1943 in Canton, OH and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 30 years moving from Canton. He was a veteran of the United States Army. James retired from Ford Motor Company as an electrician and worked in the Canton and Lorain plants. He was a member of the Ford UAW Local 2000 Lorain Assembly Plant, AMVETS Post #22, and the VFW Post # 7576. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Betty-Jo Daverio (nee Weekly); daughter, Stephanie Daverio of NC; son, James Daverio of Vermilion; sister, Mary Lou Clendenin; brothers, John (Nancy) Daverio, Mark (Georgia) Daverio, and Dennis (Chris) Daverio; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lucille (nee Laubaucher) Daverio, and his brother, Tom Daverio. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion from 2 pm until the time of military honors presented by the Vermilion Veterans Council at 3pm. A Celebration of Life Service will follow. Chaplain Beth McKee will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the AMVETS Post # 22, 1517 State Rte. 60, Vermilion, OH 44089.
