James Elliott

James Elliott, 88, of Vermilion, died Friday, June 7, 2019 at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness. James was born February 4, 1931 in Matewan, WV, he had been a Vermilion and Amherst resident for the past 62. He was a veteran of the United States Army Rangers serving during the Korean War as a paratrooper. James worked for F.J. Boutell as a Car Hauler retiring after 25 years. He was a life member of the VFW Post #7576 and founding member/life member of AMVETS Post #22. James enjoyed watching western movies, fishing, and hunting. James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley (nee Watkins) Elliott of Vermilion; sons, James (Lilly) David Elliott of Vermilion, John Clarence (Sue) Elliott of Amherst; daughters; Bonnie Jean (Jeff) Hitlan of Vermilion and Diana June (Tom) Greenwood of Vermilion; son-in-law, Roy Tuley of IN; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Clevanger of TN and Florine Stiltner of TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Martha (nee Ward) Elliott; daughter, Lynn Tuley; granddaughter, Amanda Patterson; brothers, Lafe and John Elliott; sisters, Corinne Johnston and Arvine Griffey, along with many half brothers and sisters.
