James Mitchell Fowler, 78, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at his home after a sudden illness. He was born November 3, 1938 in Jamaica, NY and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 28 years moving from North Ridgeville and Bay Village. James was a veteran of the US Marines serving from 1957 until 1962. After serving his country, he graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Industrial Psychology. James worked as a self employed manufacturers representative for the lighting design industry. His territories included Chicago, New York, and Cleveland. He later worked for Philips for 10 years and retired in 2010 from Rambusch. James was also a self-published author of a course that educates sales representatives on ethics. He was a member of AMVETS Post #22, Past Commodore of the Vermilion Boat Club, and the IES (Illuminating Engineering Society). James enjoyed woodworking, bass fishing, and golfing. He was well loved and best known for his patience and sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pauline (nee Probert) Fowler of Vermilion; daughters, Kelley Dole, Nancy Billings, and Dianne Chadwick all of NH; stepsons, Douglas Sargent of Cleveland and Michael (Lisa) Sargent of Chareston, SC; stepdaughters, Lisa (James) Heath of Euclid and Laurie Moore of Chicago; 11 grandchildren; brother, Frank Fowler of NJ; and sister, Dr. Barbara Miller of NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Grace (nee Mitchell) Fowler. At the request of the family, there will be no services.
