James H.Taylor, 82, of Lorain, passed away at home Thursday, March 29th, 2012 surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was born January 14, 1930 in Cherokee, NC. At the age of 22 he moved to Lorain and had resided there for the past 60 years. James retired from US Steel as a foreman in Four Seamless in 1985, after 31 years. He then retired from Securitas as a guard in 2010, after 18 years. James had won many trophies and awards for his skill as a master archer. He was also an avid golfer. James was a craftsman and loved fixing and building things around the house. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children. James leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife of 39 years, Toye Taylor (nee Yee), children Helena Layport (nee Taylor) of Lorain, James D. Taylor of Taveras, FL, Elizabeth and Donny Long, and Anna Yee all of Lorain, six grandchildren whom he helped raise, brother Tom Taylor, sister Gracie Coggins (nee Taylor) both of Franklin, NC, and sister Dollie Patillo (nee Taylor) of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents Memory Allen and Dixie (nee Pendergrass) Taylor, brothers Furmen Taylor, Allen Taylor, and sister Lovada Ledford (nee Taylor). The family will receive friends Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 4-7 P.M. at the Dombrowski- Riddle Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1939 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Pastor Mark Caskey will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
