James R."Sonny" Henson, Sr., 77 of Vermilion, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 in Community Health Partners, Lorain. He was born July 7, 1931 in Addison, Alabama and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 48 years moving from Memphis, TN. He worked as a truck driver for E&L Transport, retiring in 1993 after 34 years. He had attended Lakeview Baptist Church, Vermilion. Sonny was a member of the VFW post #7576, American Legion post #397 and was a life member of the Amvets Post #22, Vermilion. He was an avid pool player and sports fan. He enjoyed going to the casinos, playing the lottery, and fishing. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Phillip Gregory of Amherst; son: James Henson, Jr. of Stone Mt., GA; son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Mary Henson of Vermilion; and son, Bill Henson of Vermilion; 8 grandchildren: Jeremy Gregory, Chris Marcum, Jenny Henson, Chrissy Henson, James Robyn Henson, Stephanie Henson (Tatum), Bryan Henson, and Tyler Henson; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister Marie Pittman of Memphis, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Henson and Sara Henson; wife, Wanda Henson in 1988; son, Michael Henson in 1990, a grandson, brother, Leonard Evans, and a sister, Lillian Roberts. Friends may call Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 from 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008 at 11:30 am.
