James L. Huffman Sr., 79, of Vermilion, died Friday, October 4, 2013 at his home after a sudden illness. James was born November 8, 1933 in Cleves, OH, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 59 yrs. moving from Cincinnati. He worked as an electrical engineer for various companies including, Wakefield Brass, NASA, H.K. Ferguson, and R.E. Warner. He retired in 1997 after 43 years. He was a member of the Masons Ely Lodge #424 where he served as past treasurer, secretary of P.B. Morgan Chapter #233 R.A.M., treasurer of the Vermilion Temple Corporation, Eastern Stars, Sandusky, White Shrine of Jerusalem where he was a Watchman of Shepherds, past associate president of the Ohio State White Shrine, and had served four years on the Vermilion School Board. He enjoyed genealogy, reading, Ohio sports teams, and traveling. He especially enjoyed his family, whether it was coaching his children's baseball teams, participating as a Boy Scoutmaster, or traveling to his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's events. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley (nee Fowler) Huffman of Vermilion; daughters, Cathy (Troy) Werner of Huron and Gwendolyn Huffman of Bellevue; sons, James L. Huffman Jr. of Cincinnati, Timothy (Karen) Huffman of Strongsville, Kim Charles (Vicki) Huffman of Fremont, Richard (Kimberly) Huffman of Huron, Robert (Cindy) Huffman of Weston, and John (Cindy) Huffman of Norfolk, VA; Ken (Alicia) of Eastlake; 23 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister, Charla Corridan of TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Frances (nee Pavey) Huffman; 2 great grandchildren, Aiden and Mikayla; brother, William Huffman, and sister, Anna Sticksel. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH where there will be a Masonic Service at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
