James T Kamholz

James T Kamholz, Sr., 78, of Vermilion, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a short illness. James was born July 26, 1935 in Buffalo, NY and had been a life long Vermilion resident. He had served in the National Guard and worked for Ford Motor Co. Lorain and Brook Park as a maintenance and paint foreman for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He had also worked as a volunteer for the Lorain County Sheriff's Auxiliary. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion where he had been active with the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the UAW #425 and AMVETS Post #22. He had enjoyed coaching IAV youth bowling and bowled on the Dukes and Duchess League at Rebman's and the AMVETS League at Lake Erie Lanes. He "McGuiver" could fix anything and could often be found tinkering in his garage. He is survived by his sons, James Jr. (Tina) Kamholz of Amherst and Rick Kamholz of Vermilion; step grandchild: Amanda; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth of Sheffield Lake and Thomas of Aurora; sister, Sharon Davis of Massillion; and numerous loving nieces and nephews; and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Kamholz in 2011; parents, Thomas and Edna (nee Hasfurter) Kamholz; sister, Noreen Henderson; and brothers, Irvin and Charles Kamholz. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 10:30 am followed by an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion.
