James S. Konieczny, 82, of Lorain, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Autumn Aegis Retirement Community. James was born February 27, 1932 in Lorain, and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a 1949 graduate of Lorain High School and a veteran of the Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at Burtonwood Airfield in England . James worked for BF Goodrich for 38 years retiring in 1991 . He was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church (formerly St. John). James enjoyed airplanes, photography, gardening, and cars. He is survived by sons Michael (Rebecca) Konieczny, and Paul (Susan) Konieczny both of Lorain; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Elizabeth (nee Thompson) on February 7, 2014, son Alan J. Konieczny on February 8, 2014, parents Jacob and Charlotte (nee Bobrowski) Konieczny, sister Phyllis Szabo, and brother Robert Konieczny. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 10th at 12 noon at Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the family will recieve friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The Reverend Fr. Craig Hovanec will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, where the Lorain VFW Post # 451 and American Legion Post # 30 Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
