James Lee Lohiser

February 17, 1955 — May 2, 2026

Vermilion

James Lee Lohiser, 65, of Vermilion, died Saturday, May 2, 2026 at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born February 17, 1955 in Buffalo, New York, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 56 years, moving from Amherst at a young age.

Jim dedicated over 40 years of service to Ford Motor Company in Avon, where he worked as a supervisor. He was known for his steady leadership, reliability, and the respect he earned from those who worked alongside him.

Away from work, Jim found his greatest enjoyment outdoors, especially on the golf course and the water. An avid golfer, he appreciated the challenge of the game as much as the camaraderie it brought, spending many hours perfecting his swing and sharing rounds with friends.

He also had a deep love for boating, finding peace and contentment out on Lake Erie. Jim cherished the quiet rhythm of the water, whether cruising along the shoreline or simply enjoying a calm day on the lake. Boating offered him a sense of freedom and relaxation. Jim was also a member of Church of the Open Door.

He is survived by his brothers, Kenneth (Vera) Lohiser of Wakeman and Richard (Lorie) Lohiser of Chesterfield, Virginia; his brother-in-law, Ted Levenson of Corte Madera, California; and his niece and nephews, Michelle Keller, Darren Lohiser, and Scott Lohiser.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucinda “Cindy” Lohiser; his parents, Robert L. and Virginia A. (nee Vaughn) Lohiser; and his sister, Carol Levenson.
