James "Jim" Dean McClimans, 90, of Sheffield Village, OH, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Forest Side Assisted Living in Washington, DC. He was born on April 4, 1922 in Greenville, PA. Jim had been a longtime resident of Vermilion, OH. Jim grew up in Greenville, PA and was a graduate of nearby Allegany College. After graduation he served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II in both the European and Pacific theaters. After the war he joined the Talon Zipper Company of Meadville, PA. Shortly thereafter he moved to Cleveland where he was a financial executive for Joseph & Feiss Company, Gray Drug Company, and Baker & Hostetler LLP. Jim was a Commodore of the Vermilion Yacht Club. Along with his wife, he was an avid snow skier until age 80, and enjoyed woodworking and sailing throughout the Great Lakes on his beloved sailboat, Serapis. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nancy (nee Martin); brother Don (Tippy) McClimans of Naples, FL; adult children: Jim (Sandy) McClimans of Calgary, Canada; Don McClimans of Rochester, NY; Ellen McClimans of Indianapolis, IN; Bob (Becky) McClimans of Washington, DC; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Kathryn (Nee Dean) McClimans. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson Foundation Northwest Region, 1930 North State Route 19, Oak Harbor, OH 43449.
