James E. Meister

James E. Meister, 78, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a brief illness. He was born December 4, 1942 in Cleveland and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 50 years moving from Cleveland. James was a veteran of the US Army serving during Vietnam. He worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain as an assembler for 30 years retiring in 2004. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish, Vermilion, UAW #425, and participated on several horseshoe and bowling leagues. He enjoyed traveling to different casinos and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra (nee Parks) Meister of Vermilion; sons, Donald (Christina) Meister of Anderson, SC and James Meister of Pendleton, KY; and step grandson, Zachary Meister; 2 granddaughters, 3 great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mildred (nee Sexton) Meister and his sister, Joann Brinkman. The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 from 2:00 until the time of a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Graveside services will be Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rugby Cemetery with the Vermilion Veterans Council conducting Military Honors. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 . Online condolences may be made at www.riddlefuneralhome.com.
