James W. Roztas, 75, of Vermilion, died Monday, May 23, 2022 at his home. He was born November 19, 1946 in Cleveland and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 27 years moving from Parma. James was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served as a Staff Sergeant during Vietnam. James worked for the United States Post Office as a Mail Carrier for 37 years retiring in 2001. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish, Vermilion where he was involved in the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of AMVETS Post #22; and the American Legion Post #397. James was an avid bowler and bowled as a semi professional bowler, winning several tournaments. He also enjoyed playing golf, rescuing animals, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Eleonore (nee Weletyk) Roztas of Vermilion; grandchildren, Jimmy, Johnny, Joey, Jason, Julie, and Jenna; niece, Lisa (Daryl) Lustik-Weber; great-niece, Anna Weber; and sister-in-law, Liz (Jim) Lustik; and his brother-in-law, John (Karen) Weletyk. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Steven Roztas in 2020; a grandson, Michael Saverio Roztas; and his parents William and Justine (nee Jakubisin) Roztas. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 3-7 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be Friday, May 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
