James Harold Welker, 76, of Vermilion, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
He was born May 28, 1949, in Lorain, Ohio, and remained a lifelong resident of Vermilion, a community he dearly loved.
James dedicated more than 35 years of service to Ford Motor Company before retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed watching television, photography, collecting memorabilia, following sports and socializing with friends and family.
He is survived by his son, Cory (Megan) Welker; his wife, Susan Reed; and his stepchildren, Troy (Ashley) Potter, Benjamin (Gwen) Potter, and Larry Potter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Sarah (née McMahon) Welker; his sister, Nancy Ruttig; and his stepson, Christopher Potter.
Honoring James’ wishes, no public services will be held.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Riddle Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
