Jan Molnar, 66 of Vermilion, died Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Community Health Partners West, Lorain after a sudden illness. He was born June 4, 1943 in Cleveland and has been a Vermilion Twp. resident for the past 47 years. Jan graduated from Berlin Heights High School with the class of 1961. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1963 in Frankfort Germany. Jan worked as a self employed truck driver for 38 years retiring 5 years ago. He had also worked as a cement finisher and at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant. For the last five years he ran North Star Karaoke. He was a member of the American Legion Post #397 and a life member of AMVETS Post #22. He enjoyed music, singing, boating, fishing, turkey shoots, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Dawn ( nee Burdue) Molnar; sons, Russell "Rusty" (Donna) Molnar of Vermilion, Jeff Molnar of Vermilion, Ronald ( Diane) Molnar of South Bend, IN, Dan (Becky) Molnar of Norwalk; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Duane Molnar of Miramar, FL; sister, Serena Dawkins of Palmetto, FL. Preceding him in death were his parents, Jon and Ruth ( nee Wiencki) Molnar and a grandson, John Rhoades. Friends may call Wednesday, January 13, 2009 from 4 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 8 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military evening services prior to the funeral service.
