Jane Catherine Bettcher

October 27, 1965 — January 11, 2016

Jane Catherine Bettcher passed away suddenly at her home in Huron, Ohio and into the arms of her Savior on January 11, 2016. She was born in Oberlin, Ohio on October 27, 1965. She attended Firelands and Huron Schools, graduating from Linden Hall in Lititz, Pennsylvania where she delivered the commencement address. She attended Southern Seminary College in Buena Vista, Virginia majoring in business administration. Jane was talented at needlework and knitting making many gifts for family. She was a generous and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Jane was a formerly employed by Bettcher Industries Inc. and Good Will, Sandusky. She volunteered at Firelands Regional MedicalCenter and Second Harvest Food Bank. Recently Jane made large financial gifts to many local charities. She treasured the many times with loved ones at family retreats at Captiva Island, Florida, Killarney, Ontario and Patagonia Arizona. Jane loved horseback riding, for years owning her own horse Molly. She loved time on Lake Erie, the Gulf of Mexico and the North Channel fishing with family. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by nephews and nieces at many family gatherings. She was a member of the Huron Methodist Church, the Great Lakes Historical Society, Main Street Vermilion, and a trustee of The Bettcher Foundation. Jane was an advocate for Gift of Life donating her body to save others. The family will celebrate Jane's life at a private family service conducted by Reverend Roger Skelly Watts at the Huron Methodist Church with interment at Birmingham Cemetery the same day. Jane is survived by her father Laurence A. Bettcher, stepmother Karen Bettcher, her mother Nancy J. Scott, stepfather John Scott, brother Lane and his children Lindsay, Logan, Lucas, her sister Hallie and husband Ed Pettegrew and their children, Bowman, George, and Millie. Additionally, extended family members include Jon and Kim Vandertill, their children Jim, Tom, Mike, & Ben Vandertill; Kai & Kerry Monahan and their children Max, Mason, and Ellen; Cathy& Kevin LeFevers and their children Courtney and Jack; Nick and Elizabeth Miesen and their children Stella, Charles, and Katherine, and many uncles, aunts and their families. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Louis and Leota Bettcher and Ernest and Evelyn Lamvermeyer, an uncle Richard Lee Bettcher and cousin Keven Gray. The family requests that gifts in Jane's memory be made to the Jane Catherine Bettcher Memorial Fund, % Erie County Community Foundation, 135 East Washington Row, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
