Jane Ann Wilkerson Koppenhafer, 78, of Vermilion, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake after a lengthy illness. She was born and raised in Middlefield and lived in Vermilion since 1954. She graduated from Middlefield High School and received her Bachelors Degree from Baldwin-Wallace College. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and was a White Rose Orator. She was a secretary for American Steel and Wire in Cleveland and for Wakefield Brass, Vermilion. She was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church; past chapter president and past province president of Alpha Xi-Delta Sorority; a member of the College Club of Vermilion and PEO Sisterhood. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Merle E. Koppenhafer, three daughters, Wanda (John) Schramm, Cheri (Tim) Costello, and Linda (Blake) Glasser; seven grandchildren, Laura and Emily Schramm, Michael, Brent and Jacob Costello and Paige and Trent Glasser. She was preceded in death by her father, Vern Newton Wilkerson and her mother Louise Ellen Seger Wilkerson. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 18, 2009, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 11 am at the Riddle Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. The Reverend Nick Cacciatore will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Baldwin-Wallace College, 275 Eastland Road, Berea, OH 44017-2088 or the Alzheimer's Association, 37500 Harvest Drive, Avon, Ohio, 44011.
