Janet A. Mikola (nee Parsons), 89, of Vermilion, died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at her home after a sudden illness. Janet was born December 30, 1924 in Lorain and had been a life longVermilion resident. She had worked as a receptionist for several local doctor's offices including Dr. Kingsly, for over 20 years retiring in 1989. Janet was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion. She enjoyed swimming and her dogs, but her true passion was reading. She was known to read seven to twelve books a week. She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Nancy) Mikola of Columbus and John S. "Jack" Mikola, Jr. of Madrid, Spain; daughter, Jill (Jack) O'Donnell of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Michael, Ryan, and Brendan; and a great-grandson, Lucas. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1993 and her parents, Robert and Floy (nee Tischer) Parsons. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 from 5-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 29, 2014 at 11 am at the funeral home. Chaplain Mel Sayler will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
