Janet Lizzie Porter

Janet Lizzie Porter (nee Stanley), 75, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born October 28, 1942 in North Spring, WV and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 48 years moving from Lorain. Janet worked as a nurse at Ohio Extended Care which became Lake Pointe Health Center, Lorain for 25 years retiring in 2012. She was a member of Trinity Gospel Church, Vermilion. Janet enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and was a master at making southern gravy and biscuits. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Douglas Porter; sons, Douglas (Julie) Porter Jr., Daniel Porter, and Luke Porter all of Vermilion; daughters, Tessie (Rich) Sherrard of Wakeman, Nancy (Mark) Conatser of Sidney, OH, and Debbie (Kevin Cuson) Porter of Elyria; grandchildren: Allyson, Kaylynn, Jessica (Justin), Adelyn, James, Jordan, Gracie, Kevin Jr., Jayden, and Lilly; great grandson, Max; brothers, Keith, Ron, Dane, Fred, and Scott Stanley; her sister, Virginia Hamm; and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Zelma (nee Riffe) Stanley and her brother, Carlie Stanley. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Pastor Josh Budka will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Berlin Hts..
