Janice Ann Burns (nee Snezek), 77, of Vermilion, lost her hard fought eight year battle with breast cancer on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Mercy New Life Hospice. Janice was born August 28, 1939 in Amherst, OH and had been a life long Vermilion resident. She was a proud homemaker and loved influencing the younger generations. She was an adopted grandma to many and affectionately known as "Grandma Burns". She loved bowling, photography, gardening, crocheting, the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Cavaliers, cars, traveling to see different lighthouses, and doing the make-up for the Haunted Schoolhouse in Vermilion. She is survived by her husband of 59 yrs, Leon Burns of Vermilion; daughter, Deborah Burns of Lorain; sons, Ronald Burns of Lorain, and Timothy Burns of Vermilion; siblings, Frank "Butch" Snezek, Jr., Yvonne Schacht, Richard (Barb) Snezek, Martin (Annette) Snezek, and Robert (Sue) Snezek; grandchildren, Janice, Sara, Michael, Kathy Jo, Danny, and Brian; grand dogs, Jack and Trouble; great- grandchildren, Tyler, Jakob, Hailey, Ian, Jaxson, Austin, Brody, and Paul; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elizabeth (nee Rausch) Snezek; sisters, Anne Snezek and Harriet; and brother, Dennis Snezek The family will receive friends on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 4-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10 am at the funeral home. The Reverend Ron Brickner will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
