Janice M. Kessinger

Janice Marie Kessinger, age 57, of Lorain, died Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 after a short illness. She loved her family and friends dearly and did not want to leave them so soon. She was born on May 28, 1952 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident of the Lorain and Vermilion area. She graduated from Admiral King High School in 1970. Janice worked as a secretary in the Domestic Relations Court in the early 1970's and also as a secretary at the US Steel Corporation in the late 1970's. She served as vice president of the PTA and as a Girl Scout leader in Vermilion in the 1980's. She worked at Wildeswood Country Store in the late 1980's and then at Lorain Products in the mail room and in engineering for 9 years. She began work at the Northern Ohio SERRC, and when there was a Kids on the Block puppet performer for 7 years. Most recently, she worked at the Educational Service Center of Lorain County as a secretary. Janice was a member of Nativity BVM Church in Lorain and was active in its choir. She was a member of Circus Fans of America and the Black River Historical Society. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bethany and Zac Springer and granddaughter, Cesia all of Vermilion; son, Brad Kessinger and his girlfriend Keli Pilcher of Tampa, Florda; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Frank Sipkovsky of Lorain; special loving friend, John E. Schrenk of Lorain; a niece and nephew; 3 great-nieces; and her little dog, Gracie. She was preceded-in-death by her parents, Walter and Charlotte Springowski. Friends may call on Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 4-8 pm at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Closing prayers will be said at the funeral home on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Nativity BVM Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
