Jean Armstrong

January 23, 1931 — December 7, 2022

Jean Armstrong (nee Donnelly), 91, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at her home after

a brief illness.

She was born January 23, 1931 in Cleveland and had been a Vermilion resident for over 70 years.

She graduated from Marquette University. She started her career as a teacher in Lakewood, Ohio and

then taught Reading at St. Mary School as well as served as a substitute teacher in the Vermilion Public

Schools. After retirement she served in the Peace Corps with her husband.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish, Vermilion and St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Ft.

Lauderdale, FL.  She was an avid fisherman her entire life. In addition, she enjoyed sailing, water aerobics,

reading, bridge and was active in many Catholic organizations.  She loved being in the outdoors and

enjoyed wildlife and her granddogs.

She is survived by her four children, Mary Ann (Nick) Callahan of Neptune Beach FL, Tom Armstrong of

Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Julie (Keith) Sexton of Vermilion, and Jeff (Remy) Armstrong of Scotch Plains, NJ;

three wonderful grandchildren, Connor, Patrick and Rebecca; and her sister, Sheila (Tom) Ebert of West

Boylston, MA.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jack Russell Armstrong in 2014; parents, William

and Ruth (nee Murphy) Donnelly; her twin sister, Joan Rusk and her sister, Moira Lawlor.

Private inurnment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.   A celebration of Jean's life will

be held at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Vermilion Public Library or Back to the Wild, Inc.
