Jean Greenless, 90, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully at Stein Hospice Care Center on Sunday, April 9,2023.
Jean was born in Yorkshire, England to James and Minnie Culshaw (nee Dysart). Raised in Manchester, England and worked in a Cotton Mill. Jean went on to meet the love of her life Arthur E. Greenless who was in the Army Air Force stationed in England. They were married in Leigh, Lancashire England Jan.13,1951 before coming to the States. Art and Jean were married 71 years before his passing March 23, 2022. Vermilion was where they called home until later in life they moved to Milan to become closer to family.
Jean worked as a waitress for McGarvey’s Restaurant in Vermilion in her younger years. She was a member of the Amvets Ladies Auxilary Post #22 and the Eight Ball Dance Club. As a Homemaker she loved to cook and would feed anyone who came to visit. Jean also enjoyed playing cards, knitting newborn caps which were donated to area hospitals and knitted for the family. Traveling back home to England to visit her family brought her much joy. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her home was open to many pets through the years and she loved each and every one of them.
Jean is survived by her daughter Julie (Brian) Deering of Monroeville, 6 grandchildren Kris (Melanie) Deering, Bradley (Lindsay) Deering, Keith (Ashley) Deering, Leigh-Anne (Daryl) Pena, Cory Greenless and Crystal Greenless of Florida; 12 great grandchildren Parker, Carter, Tucker, Poppy, Sawyer, Landon, Hayleigh, Ella, Aiden, Arianna, James, Alea, Kingsley and another on the way; Sisters Joyce Lucas, Beryl Bulford and Christine Beresford all residing in England and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Jean was preceded in death by her husband Arthur E. Greenless; son James A. Greenless; brothers Bob Culshaw and Jim Culshaw; sisters Audrey Mosijowsky, Renee Johnson and Eddie Grimshaw; and great grandchild Spyder Deering.
Family will receive friends Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 4 pm until 7 pm at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St. Vermilion. Private family services will take place. Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney will officiate with interment at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
