Jean L. Mihu

January 18, 1918 — March 2, 2016

Jean L. Mihu (nee Gorbach), 98, of Oberlin, died March 2, 2016, at Kendal of Oberlin after a lengthy illness. Born January 18, 1918 in Washington D.C., she graduated from Roosevelt High School in Washington and subsequently received an M.A. from Cleveland State University. Following this graduation she was employed as a clinical psychologist at Cleveland State Hospital and Cleveland Psychiatric Institute. A political activist for many years, she was deeply involved in the movements for civil rights and integration. She had been an Oberlin resident since 2003 moving from Vermilion. She was preceded in death by her only son Daniel Bonosky, her husband, Basil Mihu and brothers Arthur and Dick Gorbach. She is survived by a grandson, Alex (Anissa) Bonosky; a great grandson, Sebastian Bonosky of Montgomery, AL; stepsons, Peter (Marian) Mihu of Cleveland and Larry Mihu of Salt Lake City UT: step daughter, Marie (Michael) Coyle of Cleveland; local nephew Richard Gorbach of Vermilion and several other nieces and nephews. .
