Jean Marie Nitchman (nee Kerns), 68, of Wakeman, died suddenly on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at University Hospital, Cleveland. She was born December 9, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio. She had been a Wakeman resident for the past 26 years, moving from Vermilion. She was a high school graduate of Libby High School in Toledo. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Baldwin Wallace College where she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority and May Queen her senior year. She was a member of Henrietta United Methodist Church. She was a kindergarten teacher for Vermilion school district retiring after 33 years. She also taught in Sheffield Lake and Firelands school districts. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid gardener. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, David Nitchman, 2 sons, Mark Nitchman of Kingston, WA and Craig Nitchman of Wakeman and sister Evelyn Foore of Toledo 1 brother, Jerry Kerns of Sand Beach, OH; 3 granddaughters and 3 grandsons. She was preceded in death by a son, Todd Nitchman in 1998; a brother Bobby Kerns and her parents Howard and Ethel (nee Spencer) Kerns. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 3, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the Henrietta United Methodist Church, 52148 State Route 113, Amherst, on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at 11 am with Reverend Raymond E. Ake, pastor will be officiating. Interment will follow in Brownhelm Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henrietta United Methodist Church, Children�s Library Fund, 52148 ST Rt 113, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
