Jeanne Anne Nedro

Jeanne Anne Nedro (nee Bateman), 90,of Vermilion, died peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Mill Manor Care Center. Jeanne was born February 3, 1922, in Parkin, Arkansas, and lived in Peru, Indiana, until the age of six when she moved to the Belding family homestead in Harpersfield, Ohio. She had been a Vermilion resident since 1953. She will be remembered as a kind and loving mother and grandmother who made birthdays and holidays special, and whose home was a gathering place for her family. Jeanne was proud to be a homemaker. She was an accomplished cook and baker, gardener and flower arranger, decorator and collector of antiques. A member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion, she was active in Marmaru, Bible Study and Prayer Group, and enjoyed providing fresh flowers for the altar. She received special recognition for her volunteer work at Lorain Community Hospital. Jeanne is survived by her three daughters, and her daughter-in-law, Karen (Paul) Shaltry; Jennifer Esterle; Melanie (Michael) Haynes, and Marilla Nedro. Her nine grandchildren are Paul A. (Susan) Shaltry, Sarah (Nathan) Staples, Amy (Matthew) Wells, Matthew (Elizabeth) Gessner, Nathan (Fabiola) Burkiewicz, Elizabeth Haynes, Stephen Haynes, Joshua (Chandra) Nedro and Julianna Link. Her nine great-grandchildren are Paul M. Shaltry, Alexander and Charles Knight, Sophia and Molly Wells, Pierce Spencer, and Elijah, Abigail and Margaret Link. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Lawrence Nedro, in 2000; her son, Larry, in 1992; her mother, Eva Wolgast; and father, Burnell Bateman. The family expresses their gratitude to the entire staff at Mill Manor Care Center. Their compassionate care of our mother and her family was greatly appreciated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 3rd at 11:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 990 State Street, Vermilion. Reverend Bob Richardson will officiate.
