Jeffery L Wentz

May 4, 1952 — April 29, 2024

Jeffery Lynn Wentz, 71, or Vermilion, passed away on Monday, April 29th after a short battle with vascular dementia. He was born May 4, 1952 in Sandusky, OH and grew up in Old Homestead in Huron, OH.

He graduated from Huron High School in 1970, where he was on the varsity wrestling team and a state wrestling champion. He will be inducted into the Huron High School Sports Hall of Fame for his wrestling achievements later this year.

Jeff was a big fan of Cleveland sports teams, hiking, especially in the Great Smokey Mountains, biking, Lake Erie sunsets, and was a civil war history buff. He worked for Ford Motor Company from 1974 to 2014, working at the Lorain plant and later the Avon Lake plant, where he was loved by his co-workers. Jeff will be remembered by his fun-loving personality and love of all things Huron.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Barbara (Beursken), children, Jason (Michelle) Wentz of Huron, OH, Jeffery (Dilara) Wentz of Stafford, VA, and Crystal (Tony) Willett of Port Sanilac, MI. He will also be remembered fondly by his  grandchildren, Kelsey, Lincoln, Nevaeh, Trevon and Kayla; and his brothers, Doug Wentz of Columbiana, OH and Mike Harman of Paonia, CO, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor (Higgins) and Stanley Wentz, his beloved sister, Marcia Auerhamer, and brother, Charles “Charlie” Harman.

There will be a celebration of life gathering at Amvets Post 22, 1517 State Route 60, Vermilion, OH on Saturday, May 25th at 12 PM. To celebrate Jeff and his fun-loving ways, please wear your best Hawaiian shirt to the event and enjoy Jeff’s favorite foods.
