Jerri Leigh Emery, 68, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024 at Kingston of Vermilion, after a brief illness.

Born on June 26, 1955, in Lorain, Ohio, Jerri was a lifelong resident of Vermilion. Graduating from Vermilion HS in 1973, she went on to college receiving several different degrees. Jerri was a “seeker of knowledge”, she cherished her time in school, relished in reading, and had a deep passion for history and research., She was a dedicated clerk at the US Post Office, retiring after many years of service.

Jerri was an active member of her community, serving as a past matron of Madeleine Chapter OES #204 and having membership in the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved music. Her fondest memories were from participating in band, choir and the theatre in school. Her appreciation for music and the arts led her to play in the pit orchestra for the Lorain Community Music Theater for many years and to lead The Belles of Lorain, a community hand bell choir. Her love for animals and nature was profound, reflected in her beautiful flower gardens and her support for organizations such as PBS and the National Parks Conservation Association. A talented cook, she delighted in experimenting with new and intricate recipes. Jerri loved her family and she showed it in countless ways.

She is survived by her brother, Scott Keith Emery of Vermilion, and her sisters, Bobbi Joann Emery of Lorain, OH, and Nicki Gayle Westervelt of West Palm Beach, FL, as well as several aunts and uncles and numerous cousins. Jerri was preceded in death by her parents, Howard "Jerry" Wesley, and Nancy Alice Emery.
