Joanne D. Molesky (nee Steffan), 86, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Mercy Regional Medical Center. Her legacy of love and dedication to her family, students, and community will forever be cherished.

Born on May 22, 1937, in Defiance, OH, Joanne resided in the Vermilion area for 56 years. Joanne's commitment to education led her to earn a degree in Education from Bowling Green State University in 1959. Her passion for teaching brought light and knowledge to the lives of countless students, beginning her career with Norwalk City Schools, later enriching the minds of young learners in Oberlin and Wakeman. Her final chapter in teaching was at St. Mary School, Vermilion, where she dedicated 23 years of her life before retiring in 2000.

A devout member of St. Mary Catholic Parish, Joanne actively participated in Adoration and the Altar Rosary Society, embodying her deep-rooted faith. Her involvement in the Third Order of St. Francis and the Laureate Alpha Omega Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi exemplified her commitment to service and community. In her leisure time, Joanne found joy in creating beautiful embroidery, sewing, and conquering challenging crossword puzzles.

Joanne will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Theresa (Mark) Desko of Mantua, OH, Melanie Molesky of Vermilion, OH and Angela (Jack) Nickels of Austin, TX; sons, Stan (Joanna) Molesky of Ashville, NC, and Thomas Molesky of Toledo, OH. Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, and Karolina; brothers, Joseph (Cathy) Steffan of Convoy, OH, and John (Kim) Steffan of Mebane, NC; as well as her sister, Mary (Bob) Reimer of Taylors, SC.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Joseph T Molesky, Jr. in 2014, and her parents, Joseph and Donelda (Beck) Steffan. Joanne's impact on those around her will forever be cherished and remembered with fondness.

The family will be welcoming friends on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Parish, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Her final resting place will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Wakeman.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Mary Parish, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH 44089.
