Joanne T. Tyler (nee Thompson), 66 of Grafton, died Saturday, October 27, 2007 in Life Care Center of Elyria after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born December 29, 1940 in Amherst and grew up in South Amherst where she worked at Thompson�s Dairy Store, owned by her parents. She has been a Grafton resident for the past 30 years, moving from Elyria. She was a 1962 graduate of Kent State University where she earned her teaching degree in business education. She taught business courses at Elyria High School for 30 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Polish Club, Elyria where she enjoyed attending the Friday night fish fries. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, socializing over dinner with friends, and spending time at the summer cottage at Hubbard Lake, MI, and visiting her sisters' in Boston. Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Darrel Tyler; daughter, Mandy Wallace of Cincinnati; brother, Bob Thompson of Vermilion; sisters: Sally Toran of Needham, Mass., Sue Thompson of Lancaster, Mass., and Nancy Clark of Scituate, Mass. Preceding her in death were her parents, Isaac and Agnes (nee Klimosewski) Thompson. Friends may call Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Hemple Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave. Amherst, OH. Services will be held at 11:00 am at the Hemple Funeral Home, Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, with Father Denis St. Marie, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, South Amherst, Officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst. Contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure 5005 LBJ Fwy., Ste 250 Dallas, TX 75244. Arrangements are being handled by Riddle Funeral Home.
