Joanne Olive Wilson

November 28, 1937 — November 23, 2023

Joanne Olive Wilson (nee Meyers), 85, passed away on November 23, 2023, at Mill Manor Nursing Home in Vermilion after a prolonged illness. Born on November 28, 1937, in Pittsburgh, PA, Joanne had been a Vermilion resident for the past 3 years, having relocated from New York.

Her early talent in singing led her to perform on the radio with "Stars of Tomorrow" alongside Betty Dugan in Pittsburgh, sharing the stage with her sisters. A graduate of Peabody High School in 1956, Joanne's career began at Dunn and Bradstreet, where she crossed paths with her husband, Charles Wilson Sr., a professor at Syracuse University, NY. Their shared journey brought forth their beloved son, Charles Jr "Chuckie". Joanne was passionate about reading, singing, nurturing flowers, and raising  Chesapeake Bay retrievers. Her deep affection for animals and people was truly exceptional.

Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Jacqueline Meyers Buell of Vermilion, OH, and Donna Meyers Kaczynski of Pittsburgh, PA; step-siblings, Raymond, David, and Patty, all from PA; niece Carrie Woods; niece Shaun Buell, niece Shannon Marcucci; nephew Leon Buell, Jr.; niece Lisa Woods; niece Heather Picaro, along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, and loved ones.

Joanne was preceded in death by her mother, Olive Magulison (aka Mary Stanec), father Richard Meyers, sister Marylou Meyers, husband Charles Wilson Sr., and son Charles Wilson Jr. "Chuckie".

Private services have been held.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Joanne's memory with memorial contributions to Back to the Wild, Inc., 4504 Bardshar Road, Castalia, OH 44824.
