John Joseph Brletic

John Joseph Brletic, 84 of Vermilion, died Monday, January 4, 2010 surrounded by his family at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a lengthy illness. He was born January 30, 1925 in Lorain, Ohio and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 33 years. He was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a sheet metal worker for Local #33. He had also worked for the City of Vermilion at the city dock. John was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion, St. Vidas, and Holy Trinity in Lorain. He was also a member of the Vermilion American Legion Post # 397 where he was involved in their bowling League for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Bernice Brletic (nee Schrenkel); daughter, Michelle (Sam) Dipre of Amherst; sons, John (Sue) J Brletic of Amherst and Matt (Jill) Brletic of Vermilion; grandchildren; John III and Chelsea Brletic, Melissa (Matt) Ullom, Maddie Brletic, and Raymond and Samuel Jr. Dipre; and 3 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Mathew and Mildred (nee Strajuhar) Brletic, a daughter, Mary Jane in 1964; brothers, Frank and Matt Brletic; and sisters, Caroline Pawlak and Ann Toth. Friends may call Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 from 10 am until the time of a prayer service and military honors presented by the Vermilion Veterans Council at 11:45 a.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 Noon at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange St. Vermilion, Father Frank Speier will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
