John Wesley “J.W.” Christian, 92, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
Born April 15, 1933, in Blytheville, Arkansas, J.W. moved to Vermilion 67 years ago from Memphis, Tennessee, and had called it home ever since. He graduated from Ramer High School in Tennessee and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Following his military service, J.W. began working at Ford Motor Company in Memphis and later transferred to the Lorain plant in 1958. He retired after a dedicated 30-year career.
J.W. had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed tending to his yard and playing baseball. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Alice Branham of Vermilion; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Nash, Larry, and Fred Christian.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Frances Christian; his children, Teresa Christian and David Christian; grandson, Paul Kasden; and his sister, Lorraine.
In accordance with his wishes, private services were held.
