John Edward Cyrek

John Edward Cyrek, 69, of Vermilion, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born January 1, 1957, in Buffalo, New York, and had been a Vermilion resident for the majority of his life.

John worked as a pipe fitter for Ford Motor Company for 44 years, retiring in 2020.

A true jack of all trades, he was mechanically inclined and skilled in woodworking. He enjoyed camping, racing, music, and spending time outdoors. He was known for his amazing sense of humor and for always being there for those he loved. John especially enjoyed attending car shows and sharing his love of cars with his wife, particularly her 1967 Mustang.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 42 years, Cynthia (nee Frye) Cyrek; daughter, Niki (Paul) Yacobozzi; granddaughter, Devan; siblings, Edward (Linda) Cyrek, Linda Boyd, and Sharon (Alvin) Cabranes; sister-in-law, DeeDee (Joe) Ernandes; brother-in-law, Lee (Lisa) Frye; nieces, Elena (JP) Krill and Avery Frye; nephew, Anthony (Kate) Ernandes; great-nieces and nephews, Meadow, Colt, Remi, and Grady; mother-in-law, Sandy Frye; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Stella (nee Giermek) Cyrek; son, Joseph M. Cyrek; sister, Nancy Hector; brother-in-law, Dan Boyd; and father-in-law, Hallie Frye.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
