John E. Dinger

John E. Dinger, 75 of Vermilion, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born June 11, 1932 in Heathville, PA and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 45 years moving from Lorain. John graduated from Brookville High School, Brookville, PA in 1949. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain as a stock checker for 31 years, retiring in 1987. John was a member of Beacon Baptist Church, Lorain and the Local UAW #425. He enjoyed golfing, and animal watching, especially at the zoo. He was an avid sports fan, following the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians. While wintering in Davenport, FL for the past 20 years he often enjoyed going to the Cleveland Indians spring training camps. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Donna (nee Hoffman) Dinger, sons, John Dinger Jr. of North Ridgeville and Ken (Kim) Dinger of Elyria; daughter, Susan (John) Sharp of Huron; 4 grandchildren: Michael Sharp, Jordan Dinger, Chad Rhodes, and Johnny Rhodes; great-grandson, Brandon Rhodes; and sister, Dorothy Schuckers of Reynoldsville, PA. Preceding him in death were his parents, Gilbert and Mamie Florence (nee Hetrick) Dinger, 8 brothers, and 6 sisters.
