John E Faltay

March 1, 1944 — December 5, 2020

John Faltay (born János Imré Faltay), 76, of Vermilion, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at his home after a brave 3 month battle with melanoma. He was born March 1, 1944 in Budapest, Hungary, moved to Austria in 1945, then to the United States in 1956. He had been a Vermilion resident for the past 20 years moving from Avon Lake. John graduated from Ithaca High School in 1963 and Cleveland State University in 1969. John worked for Ford Motor Company as a electrician for 33 years retiring at the age of 62 . He spoke three languages, was an avid science fiction reader, knife maker, and loved his 12 acre tree farm. Most importantly he was a loving husband and wonderful father. John was a member of the Vermilion Fish and Game Club, where he volunteered for fishing derbies and other activities. He is survived by his wife, Marie E. Faltay (nee Rice) of Vermilion; children, John (Diane)  Faltay of Penfield Twp; Andromeda (Nicholas) Crano of PA, Zoltan Faltay of Cincinnati, Bela (Tammy)  Faltay of Green; grandchildren, Stephen, Ariadna, Elise, Ophelia, Madelyn, and John; and sister, Sarolta DeFaltay of NY. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Rosalia (nee Lestar) Faltay. The family would like to give a special thank you to Drs. Khayyat, Suh, Ramalingam, and the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center for all their support. Private services for John will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio 44089 . The family suggests memorial contributions to the Ritter Public Library, 5680 Liberty Ave., Vermilion, Ohio 44089 and/or the Lutheran World Relief, https://donate.lwr.org.
