John William Keller

John William "Bill" Keller, Jr.,88, of Vermilion, died Sunday, December 5, 2004 at Kingston of Vermilion after a brief illness. Born August 2, 1916 in New Haven, Connecticut, he was a Vermilion resident since Oct. 2002. He lived in Cocoa Beach, FL for 15 years before coming to Vermilion and had lived in Cranford, New Jersey most of his life. He worked as a men's clothier and was president of Wendellinc., Somerville, NJ for 27 years. He had been in the retail business 52 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during WWII and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a member of the Riverside Presbyterian Church, Cocoa Beach, FL and the First Presbyterian Church, Cranford, NJ. He was a member of the Azure Masonic Lodge #129, Cranford, NJ , the Canaveral Lodge #339, Cocoa Beach, FL, the Azan Shrine Temple, Melbourne, FL and the Shriners Oriental Band. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association Chapter 14 and was an avid fisherman especially enjoying fly fishing. He is survived by his wife, Arline Isabelle (nee Brennan) to whom he was married 60 years; 2 daughters, Patricia Scharra-Stein, Vermilion and Judy Collier, Palm Bay, FL; a granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Scharra Rice, Columbus, and a brother, Herman Mitchell Keller, St. Cloud, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, John William and Edith Elvira (nee Anderson) Keller. Friends may call Tuesday, December 7, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 until the time of service at 3 p.m at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. The Reverend Terry Parker, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military services and Ely Masonic Lodge #424 will conduct Masonic Services. Interment will be at Florida Memorial Gardens, Cocoa, FL. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Azan Shrine Temple, 1591 W. Eau Gallie Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32935.
