John A. Kropf, 77, of Vermilion, died Friday, October 24, 2014 at his home after a lengthy illness. John was born March 26, 1937 in Vermilion where he has been a life long resident. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. John worked for AlliedSignal (Honeywell) in the accounting department for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching Warner classics, and reading the newspaper. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Janis and James Stanco of West Chester, PA; niece, Stephanie Benjamin; nephew, Mark Stanco; and great niece and nephew, Katie and Matthew Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Doris (nee Summers) Kropf. The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 4:00 p.m. Private inurnment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
