John J. Martin, age 52, of Vermilion, died Saturday, October 23, 2004 in the emergency room at Community Health Partners in Lorain following a sudden illness. He was born on October 27, 1951 in Clydebank, Scotland and has lived in Vermilion since 1956. He worked as an assembler for the Ford Motor Company Avon Lake Plant until his death. He attended the Vermilion Schools and enjoyed working on cars, auto racing, camping and sporting events. Survivors include his wife, Patricia (nee Workman) Martin of Lorain; son, John Cody Martin of Lorain; granddaughter, Kayla Martin; mother, Betty Martin of Vermilion; sister, Carolyn Brumenschenkel of Vermilion; brother, Robert Martin of Melbourne, Australia; several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father, Hugh Martin and a brother, Hugh Martin. The family will receive friends at the home of Carolyn Brumenschenkel, 5875 South Street, Vermilion on Saturday, October 30th, 2004 at 1:00pm. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. Arrangements entrusted to Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion.
