John Robert Pollex, 68, of Vermilion, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, following a sudden illness.
Born on April 27, 1956, in Toledo, OH, John made his home in Vermilion for the past 15 years after relocating from Rome, NY.
A graduate of St. John’s Jesuit High School in Toledo, John worked in various fields throughout his life. In recent years, he found great joy working at the Vermilion Boat Club, where he lent a helping hand in many different roles.
Known for his versatility and resourcefulness, John was truly a jack of all trades. He had a passion for golf and was also a skilled artist, often creating and selling unique driftwood pieces at local shops.
John is survived by his daughter, Amber Boulware of Hilton Head; his siblings Christine McGrellis, Kathleen (Ted) Cupp, Karen Ralston, Drew Bairley, and Jill (Larry) Baer; his half-sister Kimberly (Craig) Gabel; his half-brother Kurt (Jennifer) Pollex; his sister-in-law Linda Pollex; many nieces and nephews and step mother, Donna (Pete) Pollex Najarian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. James and Betty (nee Bairley) Pollex; his brother, James Pollex; and his sister, Madeline Zahradnik.
A celebration of John's life will be held at a later date.
