John Speckhart

John Speckhart, 78, of Lorain, died Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. John was born December 14, 1935 in Lorain, where he had been a lifelong Lorain resident. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Korean War conflict. John worked for Frank-Seringer & Chaney Inc. CPA, and as a self employed personal and business accountant throughout his working career. He also worked for BF Goodrich for 17 years, retiring in 1993 and then worked for Invacare for 7 years. He was a member of First Assembly of God, Vermilion. John enjoyed golfing, bowling, woodworking, and collecting model cars. His wife was the love of his life, and he enjoyed keeping her interests ahead of his. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Virginia (nee Sparks) Speckhart; sons, Harley (Carolyn) Baldwin of Lorain and Glenn (Linda) Baldwin of Ripley, WV; daughters, Diane (Mike) Citro of Amherst, Susan (Jeff) Bernard of Rocklidge, FL, Tami (Glen) Wilbanks of Salem, AK, and Judy (Michael) Giannuzzi of Lorain; daughter-in-law, Gayleene Baldwin of Lorain; 21 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Baldwin; parents, John and Teresa (nee Galler) Speckhart; brothers, Steve, Edward, and Robert Speckart; and sister, Teresa Farkas. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 6-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion OH where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 8 pm. Friends may also call on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am at the funeral home. The Reverend Michael Levelle will officiate.
