John Francis Varga

John Francis Varga, 76 of Forest Hill, Maryland, formerly of Vermilion, died Monday, October 13, 2008. He was born June 2, 1932 in Cleveland, OH and had been an Amherst/Vermilion area for 42 years, until moving to Forest Hill Maryland in 2004. Mr. Varga graduated from Cathedral Latin High School, Cleveland, OH. Following service with the US Air Force, he was employed as an air traffic controller for the Oberlin ARTCC. He was also employed by Sharpnack Chevrolet for several years. He was a former member of St. Mary�s Church, Vermilion, and was more recently a member of St. Margaret Church, Bel Air, MD. He was involved in the Amherst Little League Program when his children were younger. He enjoyed sailing, traveling, reading and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Varga is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lenore L. (nee Klepek) Varga; daughter Anne M. and her husband Timothy N. Siebold of Bel Air, MD; sons Stephen F. and his wife Deborah Darlene Varga of Hughesville, MD; and David M. Varga of Chicago, IL; 5 grandchildren: Elizabeth and Matthew Siebold; Stephanie, Benjamin, and Samuel Varga; sister, Winifred C. Johnson of Rocky River, OH; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis N. and Elizabeth (nee Healey) Varga; and a brother, William F. Varga. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 17, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 11 am at the funeral home with Reverend Jim Holmer, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion, where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
