John M. Yacobozzi, 89, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at his home after a short illness. He was born July 5, 1925 in Lorain, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 66 years moving from Lorain. John served in the US Navy during WWII. John enjoyed working with and for his good friend Lester Mayer at L&M Towing and Repair for the past 25 years. He had also worked for Steele Tire, Lorain. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, AMVETS Post #22, American Legion Post #397, VFW Post #7576, and the IAV Post 1, Lorain. John loved to be around people and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Cleora (nee Hrdlicka) Yacobozzi of Vermilion; sons, Dean (Vicki) Yacobozzi and Dale Yacobozzi both of Vermilion; grandchildren: Stacy, Mark, Lisa, Paul, and Angela; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ilario and Angeline (nee Misita) Yacobozzi and a brother, Salvatore Yacobozzi. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 4-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 7:00 pm. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Monday, April 13 , 2015 at 9:30 am followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. The Reverend Fr. Ron Brickner will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
