John Zelenak, 82, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph, Lorain, after short illness. John was born February 25, 1930 in Czechoslovakia. He had been a Vermilion resident since 1953 moving from Lorain. John worked as a maintenance worker in the "Bob Shop" at US Steel, Lorain. for 38 years. . He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, horse racing and traveling to Casinos. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret "Marge" (nee Tomusko) Zelenak of Vermilion; sons, John Michael (Tammy). Zelenak of Lorain and Richard Alan Zelenak of Macedonia; daughter, Sandra Sue (Daniel) Morrow of Sheffield Lake; granddaughter, Charity Morrow; great grandchildren, Kelzey and Joseph; sister, Patricia (Greg) Alexander, Baltimore, Maryland and a niece. He was preceded in death by his parents.. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 4-7 p.m.at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Father Ron Brickner will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
