John Zywczyk

John Zywczyk, 91,  of Vermilion, died Sunday, September 1, 2024  at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness.

He was born May 14, 1933 in Cleveland, OH and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 19 years moving from North Ridgeville.

John was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving during Korea from 1952-1960.

John worked for Elyria Municipal Court as a bailiff for 22 years and worked for Easton Corporation as a Research and Development  Mechanical Engineer.

John was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vermilion, OH. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Amvets, and the VFW. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing, baseball, and football.

He is survived by his children, Andrea Morris of Toronto; Kenneth  Zywczyk of Houston, TX;  Mark (Kimberly) Zywczyk of Vermilion, OH; Jacqueline Thomas of Clearwater, FL and Ellen Smollock of TN;  and his granddaughters, Gabby, Tess, Ava, Camille, and Leah.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Zywczyk in 2023,  parents Leon Mary (nee Blueter) Zywczyk and sisters, Florence Brunn, Helen Zywczyk, Clara Zywczyk, and Irene Ross; brother, Richard Zywczyk.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 23, 2024 from 2:00 until the time of service at 3:00 p.m.  at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio, military honors will be presented. Private burial will take place at a later date.
