Johnny Carl Raines

Carl (Johnny) Raines, 73, of Vermilion, died Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home with family at his side. He was born June 6, 1947 in Crossville, AL and had been a life long Vermilion resident moving to Anchor Lodge in 2017. Carl attended Lucy Idol Center in Vermilion and Betty Rinderle School in Sandusky.  He went on to work at Double S Industries in Sandusky, and retired in 1997. In his younger years, Carl enjoyed horseback riding and walking and riding his bike to shops in town.  He loved fishing, holidays, and picnics with family and friends. He is survived by his sisters, Rosemary Burch of Collins and Patricia Compton-Mejak of Collins; brothers, Larry Raines of Marion and Donnie Raines of South Amherst; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Raines and Lizzie (nee Lester) Raines-Compton and his brother, Eddie Raines. Inurnment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 1 pm.
