Jon Hanna

Jon Ronald Hanna, 89, of Vermilion, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness.

He was born May 17, 1936, in Lorain, OH, and had made his home in Vermilion for the past seven years after moving from Elyria.

Jon worked for Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, where he spent 25 years building cylinder heads before retiring in 1978. He was known for his strong work ethic and pride in a job well done.

A man who loved the thrill of the open road, Jon especially enjoyed taking drives in his cherry-red 1963 Chevy Impala. He graduated from Lorain High where he played the position of guard on their football team. He also found joy in fast cars, playing poker, watching sports, westerns, and his favorite game shows, eating ice cream, and listening to the Beach Boys and The Four Seasons.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Lisa) Hanna, Ronald (Chris) Hanna, Bryan (Barb) Hanna, and Kimberly (Jim) Evans; his grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Hanna, Laura (Matthew) Marcum, Jon (Kayla) Hanna, Bently (Emilie) Hanna, Bryan Hanna, Stephanie Hanna, Amanda (Aaron) Bement, Bryan (Moriah) Hanna Jr., Rachael (Ryan) Adkins, and Joshua (Amariah) Hanna; many great-grandchildren, including Jayla, Jaxon, Eli, Mavryk, Zaydn, Aden, Hanna, Hazel, Micah, Bryan, JJ, Aaron Jr., Olivia, Addy, Maddy, Ellie, Mia, Adeline, and his great-great-granddaughter, Kinsley. He is also survived by his brother, Randy (Nancy) Hanna and his sister, Jonelle (Pat) Rothfuss.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, John Hanna and Pearl (Shinsky) Hanna.

Private graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 37309 Harvest Drive, Avon, OH 44011.
