Joseph S. "Joe" King, 63, of Vermilion, died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Oak Hills Nursing Center, Lorain. He was born July 10, 1944 in Norwalk and lived most of his life in Vermilion. He worked as a machine operator/supervisor for Nordson Corp. for 38 years. He was also a grape farmer and was the largest grape producer in Ohio for Welch's. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, the National Grape Co-op, and the International Association of Machinists. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Joan (nee Hamman) King; sons, Jeffrey King of Vermilion, and Joel (Lisa) King of Strongsville; daughters, Jacquelyn Freeman of Vermilion and Julie King of Vermilion; grandchildren, Joseph Freeman, Pauly Freeman , Callie King, Paige King, Brenna King and Valerie Mankin. Preceding him in death were his parents, Stephen and Mary (nee Lezak) King. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. There will be a Christian Wake service at 3:30 p.m. Prayers will be said at the funeral home Wednesday, June 11 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Father Jim Holmer, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary School Endowment Fund, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, 44089.
