Judy Broeckel

Judy G. Broeckel (nee Wooten), 73 of Vermilion. It is with great sadness that the family of Judy G. (nee Wooten) Broeckel announces her passing on June 20, 2018 at her home surrounded by her children after a brief battle with cancer. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she will be joining her husband in eternity. She was born March 21, 1945 in Coalwood, WV and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 46 years. Judy worked as a government secretary for the state of Virginia for four years. She also worked as a tax consultant for HandR Block and as a secretary for insurance appeals. She member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Vermilion and Amvets Posts #22. She enjoyed volunteering at Mercy Regional Medical Center, reading, swimming, traveling to Las Vegas, helping others, southern food, and staying active with her annual garage sales. She is survived by her sons, Jerry (Lena) Broeckel of Vermilion and Fred (Yvette) Broeckel of Seattle, WA; daughters, Lora (Rochelle) Broeckel of Lorain, Debra (Chris) Petrunyak of Fort Knox, KY, Sherrie Craddock of Amherst, and Kristen Broeckel of Vermilion; 15 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Broeckel in 2011, son, James S. "Jimbo" Broeckel, II in 2008; grandson, Collin Andrew Craddock; parents, Fred and Alafaire (nee Pucket); brother, Jim, and sister, Freda. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 11:00 am until the time of a funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Cliff Morris will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. Immediately following the graveside services at Maple Grove Cemetery, family and friends are invited to join the family at Lakview Baptist Church to continue to celebrate Judy's life by reminiscing about old times and share in a meal.
