Julia Kaltenbach

Julia Kaltenbach (nee Guernsey), 83, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Amherst Hospital after a 4 month illness. Julia was born August 9, 1929 in Syracuse, New York. She had been a Vermilion resident since 1958 moving from Tiffin and Sylvania. She graduated from the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing and worked as an Registered Nurse for Dr. Ley in Tiffin, and Dr. Charles Adams in Vermilion. She was also a substitute nurse for the Vermilion Schools. Julie was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a member of Women's League and volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Drives. She worked for the election board and volunteered for the Girl Scout Council. She traveled extensively and attended many Elderhostels. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed cooking and gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Andrew) Ayers of Maumee; son, Don (Beth) Kaltenbach of Brunswick; grandson, Sean Kaltenbach of Brunswick, and brothers, Gerald L. (Donna ) Guernsey of Ft Wayne, IN, and Raymond (Kay) Guernsey of Buck Hill Falls, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Gene Kaltenbach, May 7, 2012 and her parents, Raymond and Ruth (nee Carpenter) Guernsey. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3747 Liberty Ave., Vermilion. The Reverend Richard J. Leseganich will officiate. Private interment will be at Rugby Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.
