Kate Marie Fortner

Kate Marie Caldwell-Fortner (nee Cantrell), 70, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at her home after a short illness. She was born February 4, 1942 in Shelby Gap , KY and has been a Vermilion resident since 1976 moving from Cleveland and West Virginia. Kate worked as a hair stylist for We Care Hair Salon in Sheffield Lake and Kingston Residence of Vermilion. She also had worked for several factories in Cleveland, and as a clerk at Fisher Big Wheel, Vermilion. She was a member of City Gate Church, Tennessee and Broadway Assembly Church, Lorain. She enjoyed shopping, dining out and walking. She is survived by her mother, Easter (nee Potter) Cantrell; daughter, Sherry (Jeff) Nehls of Vermilion; granddaughter, Alycia Nicole Nehls of Vermilion, step daughter, Shelly Jones of Las Vegas; step granddaughters, Tiffany, Holly and Rori Jones Schneider all of Las Vegas; sisters, Dora Duncan of Cleveland, TN, Zetta (Jerry) Stein of Indianapolis, IN, and Novella (Don) Brewer of Vermilion; brothers, Rev. Roy Harold (Kaye) Cantrell of Chattanooga, TN, Auldin Cantrell of Cleveland, TN, and Michael Cantrell of Cleveland, TN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Caldwell; second husband, Edgar M. Jones in 2000; father, James Allen Cantrell, brother, Allen Cantrell Jr., and nephew Wesley Vaught. The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Riddle Funeral Home. Pastor Matt Jones will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
